The Life Cycles E.P. is my first totally official, irrefutably legitimate, public commercial release as a musical artist.

The creation of Life Cycles was a process of finding a very particular balance of sounds: a set of musical collages that rode the boundaries between the sounds of the natural world, the sound of the man-made world, and the sounds particular to music. I wanted to create a journey through the electronic realm, where the source of a sound is indefinite, and it is often impossible to predict the course that the music will take.

We live in a time where the landscape of the earth (apart from the ocean) is dichotomy between those things that are natural and those things that are man-made. Each of these has their own character, their own intrinsic logic. Man-made things are structurally alien to the surroundings in which they are placed, which are typically complex and wild in contrast to the straightforward comprehensibility of human inventions. Each of these forces plays on the the other. The environment is affected profoundly by people, while people are totally dependent on the environment.

It is from this relationship that I got the concept of Life Cycles. Life Cycles describe the ongoing processes that make up the relationship between people and nature.
